Sammy Kuffour takes over King Faisal FC
The ex-Bayern Munich defender has acquired the Kumasi-based club after their return to top-flight footballFormer Ghana international Samuel Osei Kuffour has reportedly took over King Faisal FC ahead of their 2019/20 Ghana Premier League campaign.
Earlier last week, Founder of King Faisal FC, Alhaji Karim Grunsah announced his decision to sell the club to a new owner due to financial constraints after their Premiership status was affirmed at the 2019 Ghana FA Extraordinary Congress in Accra.
Kuffour has acquired his boyhood club with the dream of making them one of the biggest clubs in the country with quality players and good structures.
He joined Italian club Torino from King Faisal FC in 1991 at age 15 before leaving for Bayern Munich in 1993 where he spent 11 years.
The ex-AS Roma and Ajax star was recently a member of the Normalization Committee of the Ghana Football Association.
Kuffour capped 54 times for Ghana with three goals to his credit. He appeared at the 2006 FIFA World Cup with the Black Stars of Ghana for the first time and also made four Africa Cup of Nations appearances.
