The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has announced the suspension of the 2020 West African Senior Schools Certificate Examination (WASSCE) until further notice in members states.
This is as a result of the increasing number of cases of the Covid-19 virus in some West African member states including Ghana with sixteen (16) recorded cases of the deadly disease.
According to examination body in a memo, the decision to suspend the WASSCE time table was agreed by member countries to prevent the spread of the Novel Coronavirus disease.
“The negative impact of the novel and deadly COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent protocols put in place by governments of member countries to prevent the spread of the disease have serious implications for the conduct of WASSCE for School Candidates, 2020 as agreed by the National Offices.”
