Savelugu MP, Samed Gunu files nomination for second term
Incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Savelugu, Alhaji Muhammed Abdul-Samed Gunu, has urged supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to retain him and President Akuffo-Addo in the 2020 elections to continue to do more.
Honourable Gunu made these remarks on Thursday, when he filed his nomination at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) office in Savelugu to contest the parliamentary primaries on 25th April, 2020.
He was accompanied by a large crowd on a float of the town, including constituency polling station executives and their coordinators, and supporters of the party admist loud singing and dancing.
Addressing journalists after the submition, Mr. Samed Gunu said he is confident of retaining the seat for the NPP and to continue with the works being done by him and the President.
He thanked the executives, members and chiefs for their continued support and encouragement, which he said, had helped him to bring those numerous developments to the area.
Alhaji Abdul-Samed Gunu in the last three years after winning the 2016 elections has embarked on numerous developmental projects in most areas across the length and breath of the constituency.
In the health sector, Mr. Gunu facilitied the building of the Savelugu Health Insurance office complex, the construction of a Maternity ward at Savelgu RCH.
He also built a 20-seater WC toilet with a mechanized borehole at Savelugu Hospital.
For him, the educational sector is one the most critical areas of attention and has been investing much attention and resources to uplift quality education in the municipality.
Hon. Gunu has so far distributed 1,500 mathematical sets to BECE candidates.
The renovation and furnishing of a Six-Unit classroom block at Nambagla is another achievement of the incumbent lawmaker.
He also at separate occasions distributed about 1000 dual desk to schools in the area and donated 2-Jungle motorbikes to Ghana Education Service in the constituency.
Electricity and Water
Five communities Botingli, Dikpungni, Sakple, Tooteinyilli and Zaachi-Tansi have been connected to the national grid under the Mr. Gunu’s electrification project and assured other communities will benefit.
Meanwhile, pipe-bore water has also been extended of to Bihinayili, Kpalyogu and MohiFong.
There are some ongoing projects undertaken by the Savelugu legislator which includes the construction of a two-Storey building under at Savelugu SHS and additional 20-seater WC toilet with mechanized borehole.
In the roads sector, the aged old Savelugu-Kumbungu road is under construction and will be completed soon.
The rest are distursement of about gift thousand (¢50,000) cedis so far as educational support (to pay fees) of tertiary students from Savelugu.
Alhaji Muhammed Abdul-Samed Gunu had also Secured employment for about 500 appointments in afforestation and another 600 in NABCo to constituents.
