Former Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama has been appointed as Head of Ghana’s Mission to Washington DC in the United States of America.
She is among the first batch of thirty three (33) nominees President Akufo-Addo has submitted to the Council of State for consideration for ambassadorial roles to serve under his second term in office.
The former MP for Nalerigu-Gambaga failed to secured a third term bid in parliament in the December 2020 polls.
She was retired by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Alhaji Issifu Baba who polled 34,045 votes while Hajia Alima Mahama garnered 28,638 votes.
However, Hajia Mahama who is a lawyer served as Gender Minister between 2005 and 2009 under the erstwhile John Kuffour administration.
