The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the North East Region has called out President Akufo-Addo and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for what he describes as commissioning of fanciful projects in the region.
This comes after President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday cut sod for the Nalerigu Water Project and commissioned the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) Regional Office.
Imoro Abdul Razak at a press briefing after President Akufo-Addo’s visit highlighted a litany of uncompleted projects started by the current administration over the last two years.
According to him, the Akufo-Addo government has taken the citizens of the North East Region for granted with pure deception.
“Ladies and gentlemen, there are a litany of this fake and shambolic sod cuttings carried out by Nana Akufo Addo and Bawumia, and it is quite clear that, the President and Vice President Bawumia has taken the North East Region for granted for far too long with their pure and plain deception to us always as pointed out from above and this characters should not be tolerated anymore. They must be fair to all of us, roads in the President’s home Region (The Eastern Region) are completed on scheduled, same treatment should be applied across board not this selective governance.”Mr Razak intimated.

Press conference addressed by the Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress in the North East Region on the visit of the president of the republic to cut sod for the construction of a YEA Office in the North East Regional capital Nalerigu.
Good morning ladies and gentlemen of the press, we welcome you all to this all important media briefing on the President’s visit to the North East Region for yet another sod cutting.
SOD CUTTING OF THE 25.7 km NASIA-JANGA ROAD.
Ladies and gentlemen of the media, it is very obvious that the North East Region is only a conducive place for fanciful sod cuttings of projects that won’t be readily and speedily worked on. On the 21st of July 2018 President Akufo Addo cut sod for the 25.7KM Nasia-Janga road in the West Mamprusi District then, the road project was expected to be completed at 14th July 2020. As we speak there are still unfix broken culverts on the road yet to be worked on, the job isn’t not even 70% complete. The attempted drains at Janga township get peoples homes flooded when it rains.
SOD CUTTING OF THE 7KM BUNKPURUGU TOWN ROADS.
On the 16th of May 2019, President Akufo Addo on a tour of the North East Region cut sod for the construction of the Bunkpurugu Town Roads scheduled to be completed this year.
Indeed enough evidence and grounding was given when the Finance Minister in his presentation to Parliament the 2020 budget stated unequivocally that, this year 2020 is a year of roads. Five months to the end of the President’s term do we still believe him that the Bunkpurugu town roads will be completed before his exit of office? More worrying is, the MP of the area who is the Regional Minister was the one who ushered in the President into the Region to engage in this deceptive activity.
BAWUMIA CUTS SOD FOR 100 BED CAPACITY ULTRA MODERN HOSPITAL
Same vain in December 19th the Vice President Dr Mahamud Bawumia Cut Sod for the construction of a hundred bed hospital in WALEWALE amidst funfare, pomp and pageantry. In their usual grammar, empty rhetoric and dishonest character, the Vice President looked into the eyes of his own people and promised completing the facility in 12 month, But like the biblical Judas Iscariot, he betrayed the trust reposed on him by his own people. As we speak not a bucket of gravel is at the sight.
Ladies and gentlemen, there are a litany of this fake and shambolic sod cuttings carried out by Nana Akufo Addo and Bawumia, and it is quite clear that, the President and Vice President Bawumia has taken the North East Region for granted for far too long with their pure and plain deception to us always as pointed out from above and this characters should not be tolerated anymore. They must be fair to all of us, roads in the President’s home Region (The Eastern Region) are completed on scheduled, same treatment should be applied across board not this selective governance.
Similarly, Sod cutting was done for 3 astro turf pitches, Madina, Kyibi, and Walewale. Madina and Kyibi both have been completed and being used, WALEWALE is still ongoing. This and many juxtaposition of projects can be done and the results will be the same. We are therefore justified to call out the President and Vice President on their deception and dishonesty to the citizens of North East.
THE YOUTH EMPLOYMENT AGENCY (YEA)
Ladies and gentlemen, it is on record that the National Youth Employment Program (NYEP) module was refined, rebranded and renamed under President Mahama to YEA with several modules created for our teeming unemployed youth.
Today the youth YEA has become an avenue for siphoning state funds by Nana Addo and his appointees. It has gain the notorious tag of job duplication, all people who got appointments as National, Regional and District Directors/Coordinators of the program have been transferred to other locations without schedules and new set of Directors/Coordinators appointed in some cases double and multiple to do same job the ones appointed by President Mahama were doing leading to packing the YEA offices with unproductive personnel.
The modules, Youth in Prison service, Youth in Fire service, Youth in coastal sanitation, Youth in Environmental Protection and some other important modules introduced under JM administration are non existent anymore and therefore limiting the space for our employed brothers and sisters.
The only functioning module is the Youth in community policing introduced by JDM, which they capitalized on to employ NPP party hoodlums and militia to the detriment of qualified deserving youth.
YEA Under John Dramani Mahama was more functional and was build to provide an exit plan for beneficiaries. Today YEA has less modules, and it means is that, it has employed fewer numbers unlike under the NDC administration. It has no exit plan, what it means is that, beneficiaries of YEA has no clear set out direction to further on in education. Infact YEA is a mess under this messy government of Nana Addo and Bawumia.
Ladies and gentlemen, the media, the President will among other things also commission the Nalerigu Town water project. It is our considered view that, Mr Akufo Addo will be candid and sincere for the first time since becoming President, and acknowledged duly when the Project was initiated, who initiated the project, and appropriately credit His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for the water project being commissioned today. The work is a world bank funded projected started in 2015 under the regime of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
The project under the NDC Government led by President. Mahama was designed to cover Nalerigu/Gambaga townships Naanori, Nagbo and Zarantinga, but what had been delivered today has intentionally left out Zarantinga and Nagbo. The funds for this communities have been used to line up the pockets of corrupt Nana Addo and his appointees and Bawumia and Alima must answer.
We leave the President of the republic with a quote from an authentic hadith by the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.
Sahih Muslim v.1829 a
It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (May be upon him) said:
Beware, every one of you is a shepherd and every one is answerable with regard to his flock. The Caliph is a shepherd over the people and shall be questioned about his subjects (as to how he conducted their affairs). A man is a guardian over the members of his family and shal be questioned about them (as to how he looked after their physical and moral well-being). A woman is a guardian over the household of her husband and his children and shall be questioned about them (as to how she managed the household and brought up the children). A slave is a guardian over the property of his master and shall be questioned about it (as to how he safeguarded his trust). Beware, every one of you is a guardian and every one of you shall be questioned with regard to his trust.
