Compilation of new voters’ register begins in June – EC

The Electoral Commission has outlined a roadmap for the compilation of of a new voters’ register ahead of the December 7, 2020 general elections.

The exercise is scheduled to take place within 40 days starting late June and will end in July 2020.

This come to light after an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting between the EC and some political parties on Wednesday, 27th May 2020.

The meeting was divided into two sessions in adherence to the Covid-19 protocols since it could admit only 25 persons.

Addressing journalists after the IPAC meeting, Dr. Bossman Asare, Deputy Commissioner incharge of Operations, the EC have made arrangements for a safe and secure exercise admist the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to him, the Ghana Card and Passport are key requirements for registration.

He added one can still register in the absence of the Ghana Card and Passport, but will need two persons who are registered to vote guarantee for them to be registered.
