Government has closed down all Passport Application Centers (PACs) in the country effective Wednesday, April 29 amid the Novel Coronavirus pandemic.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Intertegration said the decision to suspend passport services forms part of measures to stop the spread of the virus.
According to the Ministry in a statement, “in keeping with Government’s directives to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration (MFARI) has suspended Passport Services at ALL Application Centers (PACs) with immediate effect.”
Ghana has so far recorded 1,671 cases of Covid-19, 188 recoveries and 16 deaths since the outbreak of the disease on 2nd March, 2020.
The Foreign Minister also explained vetting and capture procedures and passport collection at all centers in country has been grounded.
It added all passport offices will remain closed until the Covid-19 situation in Ghana is sufficiently safe for reopening to the public.
