Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tamale, Iddrisu Musah Superior has cracked the whip on some persons who decided to go contrary with government directive to suspend public gatherings.
Musah Superior in the early hours of Sunday stormed Lamashegu, Lamakara and Zogbeli with armed police officers where people had gathered for wedding ceremonies.
Canopies mounted were raised down, chairs seized in the process to ensure compliance of social distancing in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.
President Akuffo-Addo in an address last week ordered for the suspension of public gathering including religious activities, sports, funerals, weddings etc.
According to Musah Superior, it is important for people abide by government protocols to prevent the spread of the virus.
He added “It is our collective interest to follow these instructions as measures put in place to prevent the spread of the virus.”
“This is not an NDC or NPP matter and whoever plays politics with this measure to enforce compliance to me is playing with death,”Mr. Superior concluded.
