Damba 2019: McDan cut sod for 6 unit classroom block in Yendi

The Gugba Naa of Tamale and Executive Chairman of the McDan Group of Companies, Dr. Daniel Mckorley has commissioned the construction of a six (6) unit classroom block in Yendi, the traditional capital of the Dagbon State in the Northern Region.

This is in fulfillment of a pledge made by Dr. Mckorley last month (October) when he paid a courtesy call on Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II, the Overlord of Dagbon.

The project funded by the McDan Foundation is scheduled to be completed in April 2020.

It replaces the dilapidated Reima Primary School near the Gbeewa Palace.

Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony Friday, 15th November, 2019, Dr. Mckorley said education is one of the best thing that can ever happen to the people of Dagbon.

He underscored the importance of education as the bedrock for the development of Dagbon.

“Education for me is one of the best things to ever happen to the people of Dagbon. And when we are able to educate the children, the rest is for us the elders to do the rest,” he stated.

Dr. Mckorley seized the opportunity to thank the Ya-Na and the people of Dagbon for welcoming him and accepting him as one of their own.

In attendance at the sod cutting ceremony are Chief Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, Deputy Procurement Manager at Cocobod and aspiring parliamentary candidate for Yendi, Head of Sports at Joy News Nathaniel Attoh, Members of the Dagbon Traditional Council, students and the general public.

An elated Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II couldn’t hide his excitement thanked McDan for his kindness to the people of Dagbon.
