The Electoral Commission has extended voting process at some polling stations in Bantama and Tamale North constituencies in the Ashanti and Northern Regions.
The Commission in a statement said the had become necessary due to long queues at the affected constituencies after close of voting at 5pm.
“The Electoral Commission is aware that by the close of polls at 5:00pm today, there were long queues in some poling stations within Bantama
and Tamale North constituencies and as such, voting is still ongoing,” the statement explained.
According to the EC, more personnel have been deployed including additional Biometric Verification devices and lighting system to speed up voting process at the remaining polling stations.
It added “In addition, all officials on ground are working tirelessly and security has also been beefed up to ensure the process is peaceful and orderly.”
