Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia arrived in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital on Friday, 20th November, 2020 to continue his campaign ahead of the upcoming December elections.
The Veep suspended his campaign on last Thursday following the demise of former President Jerry John Rawlings.
The former statesman died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra after a short illness.
Both President Akufo-Addo and flagbearer of the main opposition NDC John Dramani Mahama cut short their campaign activities to mourn with former First Lady Nana Konadu and the Rawlings’family.
However, Dr Bawumia is expected in Yendi this morning (Saturday), to begin his 3-day tour of the Northern Region.
He will be addressing a Durbar of Chiefs and People of Yendi, the traditional seat of Dagbon.
The Veep will also officially outdoor the NPP parliamentary candidate for the area Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama to the people.
The Yendi seat is considered safe for the governing NPP since 1992.
The NDC won the seat only once in 2008 and lost to the NPP again in the 2012 elections.
