Former President John Dramani Mahama has revealed reasons why he is unable to namenhis running mate for the December 2020 elections.
General Secretary John Aseidu Nketia had earlier stated the NDC is unable to name a running name due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) also have a vested interest in who becomes the running mate of the NDC with barely 8months to the general elections.
But responding to questions after a Digital conversation on Health Care and Infrastructure on Facebook Thursday night, John Mahama indicated he will make his running mate for election 2020 public at the right time.
“I have a firm idea who I want my running mate to to be. We’ll name him at the appropriate time,” he intimated
President Mahama added the party is on track and working assiduously with timelines for the elections including naming his running mate.
He said “We have to name our national campaign team. We have to name and outdoor our running mate, we have to publish and outdoor our manifesto and so these are timelines we are working that the party is working on.”
According to the former President, the NDC wouldn’t able be able to unveil his running mate due to the imposition of a ban on social gathering including political activities.
Mr. Mahama further explained the major concern confronting Ghana is Covid-19 and how to fight.
