The Local Council of Churches in the Central Gonja District has held peace walk and prayer for the country as we edge towards the December 7 polls on Monday.
The event, held in Buipe in the Savannah region brought together church members, students, some youth amidst drumming and singing through the principal streets holding placards with various inscriptions all advocating for peace.
Speaking at the event, the chairman of the Local of the Council of Churches advised the youth about the adverse effects of violence.
Rev. Sylvester Tachina called on the youth to cast their votes in a peaceful atmosphere and refrain from violence during the elections.
He was optimistic that the politicians have made pledges to work towards peaceful elections but emphasized on the need to keep their promises made.
However, the two major political parties (both NDC & NPP) pledged their commitment to a peaceful election ncome Monday December 7.
The peace walk and prayer which was organised on the theme “One Ghana, One Nation, One People” also brought police and military personnel from the district security council, people from different religious backgrounds, youth from different political parties and other stakeholders to the programme.
