Member of Parliament for Savelugu, Alhaji Muhammad Abdul-Samed Gunu has filed his nomination forms to contest the December 7 parliamemtary elections.
Alhaji Samed Gunu successfully filed at the Savelugu Municipal Electoral office after he went through the process before the close of nominations on Friday, 9th October, 2020.
The legislator was accompanied by the MCE for Savelugu Hajia Ayishetu Seidu, constituency executives and council of elders members of the NPP.
Also present were various youth groups and party supporters accross the length and breadth of the constituency.
Mr Samed Gunu after filling said he was confident of retaining the seat for the NPP against the main opposition NDC.
According to him, the Akufo-Addo led NPP administration has done better in four years than the NDC’s eight year tenure of office.
He therefore urged electorates in the area to give him and President Akufo-Addo four more years to continue to enjoy Free SHS, Planting for Food and Jobs, and other policies.
Alhaji Samed Gunu won the seat for the NPP for the first time since 1996 after defeating the NDC candidate Alhassan Abdualai with 13,334 (34%) in the 2016 elections.
However, then President John Mahama won the presidential with 21,433 (52%) against then candidate (now President) Akufo-Addo who secured 15,729 (40%) votes in the 2016 elections in Savelugu.
But Mr Samed Gunu is confident both him and President Akufo-Addo will win the both presidential and parliamentary this time round.
