The Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR) has planned to conduct institutional inspections of Covid-19 effective 1st July, 2020 due to the rate of infections at work places.
The Ministry had earlier issued a 10 point communities urging employers and workers to ensure the necessary protocols and guidelines in order to keep safe against the Virus.
The MELR in a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit said the exercise had become necessary due to the infection rate of the virus at workplaces despite measures put in place by government.
According to the MELR, the random inspections will carried out at offices, shops and factories is aimed to ensure compliance of the Covid-19 protocols.
“The MELR wishes to announce to the general public and all workplaces that effective July, 1 2020, it will embark on a nationwide random inspection of offices, shops and factories,” the statement said.
It continued “This is to ensure strict compliance with and enforcement of all COVID 19 protocols and guidelines outlined by Government, the World Health Organization and the Ghana Health Services.”
