The Office of former President of the Republic, Ft. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings has been closed until further notice aimed the spread of the Coronavirus in the country.
Mr. Rawlings before the temporal closure had also taken a voluntary test for the Covid-19 and the results were negative.
The former Head of State in statement issued by the Director of Communications Kobina Andoh Amankwa said the closure of his office is aimed to protect staff and visitors against the virus.
According to the statement, the former President Rawlings in confirming the closure indicated that “isolation is key to protecting ourselves from the COVID-19 virus and it is in support of measures taken by the govenment to mitigate the spread of the virus.”
There have been 132 test cases recorded in Ghana, one recovery and four deaths according to the Information Ministry.
However, there have been several calls on President Akuffo-Addo to lockdown the entire country to contain the spread of the disease.
President Rawlings has therefore urged all Ghanaians to seriously observe the safety measures put in place by the government to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
