Farouk Aliu Mahama commissions upgraded Yendi Mortuary

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Yendi, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama has commissioned the Yendi Municipal Hospital Mortuary after years of non-functioning.

The Zohi-Naa Abdullai witnessed the commissioning of the morgue on Monday, 9th August, 2020 on behalf of Yaa-Naa Abubakari Mahama II, Overlord of Dagbon Kingdom.

The entire facility was upgraded and fitted with modern equipment and handed over to management of the hospital after it broke down for years.

Rehabilitation works started in 2019 after some youth (Gaza Empire) in the municipality decried the delapidated state of the morgue.

According to Mr Mahama, a total of GH¢4.5 Million Ghana Cedis of personal money was spent to import a twelve-seater fridge from China and other gadgets to refurbish the morgue.

He urged management of the Yendi Municipal Hospital to ensure a good maintainance culture for the facility to serve its rightful purpose for long.

The son of former late Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama also pledged a sum of GH¢50,000 for the renovation of the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

On his part, Dr Ayuba S. Abubakari, Medical Superintendent for the Yendi Municipal Hospital expressed appreciation for the philanthropic gesture by Alhaji Farouk Mahama.

He acknowledged the modernized facility will go a long way to serve the 13 communities in the Yendi Municipal and other adjourning villages.
