As the farming season sets in, aspiring parliamentary candidate for Yendi, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama is set to distribute thousands of farm inputs and implements to farmers in the Yendi Municipality.
The disbursement is scheduled to take place this Saturday, 6th June, 2020 at the Yendi Community Center with over 800 farmers expected to benefit from the philanthropic gesture.
Items to be distributed includes, 2,400 bottles of weedicides, 800 bags of fertilizer, 600 pieces of cutlasses, 600 wellington boots and 400 bottles of anti-snake venom.
The annual disbursement is in consonance with Alhaji Farouk’s vision, through of transformer Yendi to become the breadbasket of the nation through his Partnership for Poverty Reduction (PPR), a non-governmental organization (NGO).
The initiative is also aimed at supporting farmers to increase production in the agricultural sector in order to eradicate poverty in the area.
The PPR is a social intervention initiative hinged on three strategic areas namely; education, agriculture and women empowerment.
