Former Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Hajia Ramatu Aliu Mahama has today [Tuesday], 15th October, 2019 turn 68 yeasrs old.
The renowned educationist was the second lady of Ghana between 2001 and 2009 under the John Kuffour NPP led administration.
The family, led by aspiring parliamentary candidate for the Yendi Constituency, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama earlier this morning held a private birthday celebration at the Cantonment residence in Accra.
Alhaji Farouk, who is the first male born of the family in a Facebook post sighted by TamaleOnline News described Hajia Ramatu as as a best friend and counselor who taught him the important lessons of working hard, respecting others and never quitting.
My mom taught me the important lessons of working hard, never quitting , respect for others and brevity of telling the truth no matter how bitter and difficult it is. Without you in my life, I don’t know where I would have been. I am who I am because of your care, love and prayers. On your 68th birthday, I celebrate you as always and pray for good health and long life for you.
First daughter of the family, Hajia Salma Mahama also revealed how they (family) cherish and adore the ever smiling former Second Lady of the land.

The motherly and gracious Hajia Ramatu is the daughter of the late Imoro Egala, a minister for Trade and Industry and first black chairman of Cocobod, in the first republic and a long standing political stalwart in Ghana through to the third republic.
Hajia Ramatu was an educationist in Tamale and her love and care for her pupils earned her the coveted title “mma Ramatu”.
During the tenure of the latte vice president, his house was the home of many young people due to her commitment to the development, wellbeing and welfare of the teeming young people in the community.
Together with the late vice president, Hajia Ramatu had four children, namely; Salma, Farouk, Fayad and Halim, all of whom are flourishing in their various fields of endeavor.
