The Daily Graphic reporter, has been adjudged Best Journalist in Education in the Northern Rwgion at the maiden edition of the Ghana Journalist (GJA) Awards
The event was held Tuesday, 10th September under the theme; “Promoting Peace in Northern Ghana, The Role of The Media” at the plsuh Radach Lodge and Conference Center in Tamale.
Mr. Mohammed won the top award for his outstanding reportage in education related stories especially in rural communities.
The Northern regional correspondent of TV Africa, Mr Mohammed Kamil has been adjudged the overall best Journalist of the northern GJA maiden awards.
He was also awarded Best News Reporter of The Year.

- Yahaya Mashood – Best Rural and Agricultural Award (The Finder Newspaper)
- Sadiya Maltiti – Best News Reyporter of the Year (Sagani TV)
- Hashimin Mohammed – Best Health Reporter of The Year (Joy News)
- Diana Ngon – Best Sensitive Peace Award (Citi FM)
The Northern regional minister, Alhaji Salifu Saeed on his part commended journalists in the region for exhibiting maturity and sensitivity durung the funeral of the late overlords of Dagbon.
The Regional President of the Association, Mr Ceaser Abagali cautioned that, the media will resist temptations from the public to publish frivolous publications against opponents.
Members of the awards committee panel are Mr Fred Osei Agyeman (Veteran journalist), Mr Abdallah Kasim Perez (Veteran Journalist), Mr Alidu Baba (Veteran Journalist), Mr Saaka Mohammed (GBC), AND Ms Belko Sauda (UDS) .
The five member panel scrutinised entries from the potential winners over the last month.
