GNPC budget ¢400K for 2019 Damba Festival

The Ghana National Petroleum Corperation (GNPC) has set approved Four Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢400,000) to support the 2019 annual Damba Festival in the Northern Region.

The amount is to support (donation/sponsorship) activities towards the comemoration of the event festival this weekend in Dagbon Kingdom and other areas.

It was approve by the board of the corperation at its 8th board meeting held Friday, 25th October, 2019.

The amount was quoted in an internal memo sighted by TamaleOnline News.

Activities for this year’s Damba Festival kicked off with a lecture organised by the Ya-Na Damba Committee Saturday, 26th October, 2019 at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale.

The lecture was delivered by Dr. Mohammed Ibin Chembers, United Nations Special Representative and Head of the UN Head Office for West Africa and Sahel (UNOWAS).

The lecture was on the theme “A New Dagbon: Peace and Unity for Development”. 

The well attended lecture was attended by the Yo-Na Yakubu Andani, Mion Lana Mahamudu Abdulai, Diare Lana, the Sagnari-Na and other distinguish chiefs in Dagbon.

Other dignitaries include Mr. Salifu Saeed, Northern Regional Minister, Minority Leader and MP for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, Members of Parliament, National Peace Council, UNDP amongst others.
