President Akufo-Addo has announced government will absorb WASSCE examination fees of final year SHS students.
In a televised address Sunday night, the President noted this happens to be the first time any government is taking such initiative.
“For the first time in our nation’s history, Government will absorb the WASSCE examination fees of the 313,837 SHS 3 students who will sit for the exam,” President Akufo-Addo stated.
According to him, “GH¢75.4 million will be spent on this.”
Final year (SHS3) and second year students (Gold-Track) will resume school from tomorrow (Monday), 22nd June, 2020 to prepare for their final year exams in August.
Ahead of schools reopening, President Akufo-Addo has also assured the protection of students, teachers and non-teaching staffs against Covid-19.
“l take this opportunity to assure all parents and guardians that Government is determined to protect the lives of the 800,000 students, teachers and non-teaching staff, who will be returning to
school from tomorrow,” he stressed.
He assured “l will be the last person to put the lives of the ‘Akufo-Addo graduates’ at risk.”
