Haruna Institute supports Tamale Children’s Home with food items

The Haruna Institute on Saturday, 2nd May, 2020 donated food items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to the Tamale Children’s Home to support their up keep in the month of Ramadan.

Items presented include bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil and undisclosed amount of cash.

The gesture is to support the orphanage as Muslim observe the 29/30 days of Ramadan fasting and the impact of Covid-19 pandemic.

President of the Institute, Issahaku Alhassan Nindow said the exercise forms part of the Organisation’s new mandate of taking initiatives to improve the lives of vulnerable and needy in society.

Mr. Nkndow added the Institute will continue to extend it’s support to the orphanage and urged individuals, cooperate bodies and organization to support the orphanage.

A Social Worker at the Tamale Children’s Home Madam Rukaya Abdulai, who received the items on behalf of the Children’s thanked the Institute and its members for their benevolence.

She lamented the impact of Covid-19 has largely affected the Home especially donations they mostlyly depend on.

The Haruna Institute was founded in 2012 but has recently acquired certification to work as an NGO or company limited by guarantee by the Registrar General’s Department.

The Institute has been linked to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) founded by by Minority Leader and MP for Tamale South Haruna Iddrisu.
