Accra Hearts of Oak will play their home matches behind close doors at the Accra Sports Stadium untill further notice. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced.
This comes after fans of the Phobians failed to adhere to safty protocols against the prevalence of Covid-19 during a Ghana Premiere League match on Saturday, 30th January against city rivals Accra Great Olympics.
Fans of the home team where seen jubilating, singing and hugging each other in violation of the social distancing protocol.
Others also had their face mask off contrary to prior announcements made before and during the course of the game.
The GFA in a statement on Sunday condemned the incident despite measures put in place to stem the spread of the Novel Coronavirus at match venues.
It said the club has also been referred to the Disciplinary Committee of the FA for further actions.
“That Accra Henrts of Oak SC, the home club, is immediately reterred to the Disciplinary Conimiftce concening the breaches of the provisions of the approved GFA Matchday Protocols. The Disciplinary Conimiftee has been tsked to sit on this matter expeditiously.”
It added “That until the caue is fully determined, Accra Hearts of Oak SC shall play their Home matches behind closed doors at the Accra Sports Stadium.”
