The newly elected President of Ghana, who is also the incumbent President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo – Addo has asserted with strong conviction that, he does not have deception and lies streaming in his veins.
He said he doesn’t have the same kind of character of leaders who promise his citizens but do not deliver on their promises
He believes he and his New Patriotic Party, (NPP) government have delivered on their 2016 manifesto promises without deception.
President Akufo -Addo made these assertions in his Nima residence yesterday in Accra right after he was declared winner of the 2020 presidential general elections by the EC chairperson, Madam Jean Adukwei Mensa in which he obtained 6,730,414 of the total votes cast.
“My reputation is very important to me, so I don’t deceive, neither do I lie. Ghanaians can attest to this, he affirmed.
“My government has delivered on most of our 2016 manifesto promises, though not all have been accomplished”, he admitted.
He lauded Ghana’s Electoral Commission for conducting the elections in a free, fair and smooth atmosphere devoid of violence.
The President again thanked all gallant men and women in uniform, for working hard to ensure a violence free election’s.
He also thanked his party National Executives as well as supporters of the party for contributing to his victory.
The President elect, commended Ghanaians for their immense contribution to his government’s success and also voting for him and his NPP party the second time, to continue their good works.
President Akufo Addo stated that, He and his party’s victory is a victory for all Ghanaians.
He saluted Ghanaians for conducting themselves well before, during and after the elections to ensure stability of Ghana’s long lasting peace, but condemned the Techiman and Odododiodio constituencies violence that resulted in the loss of lives and properties.
” The work ahead is to advance in peace” I therefore appeal to all of you to help maintain the peace we have enjoyed so far”, he maintained.
He assured all that the next NPP government is committed to delivering on its promises.
In announcing the Presidential results, the EC’s chairperson, Madam Jean Adukwei Mensa said the NPP obtained 6,730,413, representing 51.49% as against his main contender Mr. John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who obtained 6,214,889, reprinting 47.366%.
The NDC’s leader, Mr. John Dramani Mahama had earlier vowed to resist any attempt to subvert the electoral process, claiming that he and his NDC has won the Presidential elections but the EC has overturned the results in favor of NPP’s Akofo – Addo
For the parliamentary elections,, the NDC performed well by reclaiming ‘flip’ over 30 seats belonging to the NPP.
Madam Jean Mensa lauded her team and staff for the successful electoral processes, from registration to the general elections.
