The Ministry of Roads and Highways has terminated the Tamale-Salga road contract awarded to Ibrahim Mahama’s Messrs Engineers and Planners Company Ltd.
The 17.5km contract was awarded to the company in 2016 under the erstwhile John Mahama led NDC administration.
A letter intercepted by TamaleOnline News from the Roads and Highways Ministry directed the Savannah Regional Roads and Highways Authority to initiate cancellation of the contract pursuant to Clause 58.2.
According to the letter signed by the Acting Chief Director of the Ghana Highways Authority, Edmund Offei-Annor said Messrs Engineers and Planners failed to execute the road project detailed in the contract.
“The contractors , Messrs Engineers and Planners from all indications have failed to perform under the above contract,” the letter indicated.
However, checks by TamaleOnline News revealed that, on Monday, 17th August, the Roads Ministry had written to Messrs Engineers and Planners (contractor) to complete the road project.
It warned that failure to return to site and the contract will be terminated.
Further checks revealed that, the contractors have not received other payments for the completion of the project hence the delay.
It also emerged that, certificate of work done so far by the contractors (Messrs Engineers and Planners) have not been honoured by the Ministry since December 2019 when road contractors were paid.
