Madina Nasara wing vows to retain seat for NPP in 2020

The Nasara wing of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Madina constituency have expressed commitment to retain the seat for the party in the 2020 elections.

The NPP for the first time in the 2016 elections won the seat from the NDC who have held it for over a decade with former MP for Salaga, Boniface Abubakar-Saddique pulling 40,283 (54.90%) against the incumbent Alhaji Amadu Sorougho’s 31,650 (43.13%).

The Wing, at a ceremony held over the week commissioned the constituency Nasara wing executives followed by the official opening of an ultra modern office complex at Madina Zongo to effectively run party works in the area.

The office has been furnished with air conditioner, computers with internet connectivity, a printer/photocopier machine and other general office needs.

There was also a free medical screening session to check the health status and offer medication to members of the community after 30days fasting in the just ended holy month of Ramadan.

These arrangements is the sole initiative of Alhaji Bashiru Arahman, the Nasara Coordinator for the Madina constituency.

Mr Aziz Haruna Futa, the National Nasara Coordinator who was the special guest at the occasion in an interview said the event forms part of steps to ensure the NPP becomes the most popular party in the Zongo communities of Ghana.

He said, “it has always been my agenda for the NPP to take over the Zongos from the NDC. This initiative by the Madina Nasara Coordinator is one of such brilliant ideas that will be replicated in other constituencies and my office will provide the needed support to ensure the Zongos votes massively for the NPP in 2020 and beyond.

He added, “the NPP is replacing sugar and rice given to Muslims during Ramadan and Eid as compensation with development in the Zongos. The Zongo Development Fund will ensure our communities gets the best of infrastructure, quality education in the Makaranta schools and the creation of job opportunities for the youth.”

On his part, the Madina Nasara Coordinator, Alhaji Bashiru Arahman also explained the office will assist the youth with access to job opportunities and promulgate government policies in the constituency.

In attendance at the ceremony was the Member of Parliament for Madina and Minister of State at the office of the Vice President, Hon Boniface Abubakar-Saddique, Regional Nasara Coordinator Alhaji Kamel Hussein, Constituency Chairman Eric Nartey Yeboah and a host of other executives and party members.
