Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga has admitted John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the main opposition NDC has delayed in naming his running mate with barely six months to the general election in December 2020.
According to him, Mr. Mahama has given an indication of announcjng his running mate in the first quarter of 2020.
But the former Information Minister believes that, the former president has had enough time to make that decision and should have announced his running mate by now amid Covid-19.
On Thursday, 30th April, Mr. Mahama while responding to a question by one Francis-Xavier on Facebook dismissed assertions he was late in announcing his running mate.
He stated he has a firm idea who his running mate is but suggests now is the time to outdoor him due to the present conditions of Covid-19 which wouldn’t allow the party his (running mate’s) official innuguration.
But speaking to Joy News’ Evans Mensah on the PM Express show Tuesday, Mr. Ayariga said the NDC’s presidential candidate will soon run out of excuses if he doesn’t announce his running mate to support him.
“I think that after awhile, he will the loose the sympathy of Covid-19 as an excuse frankly speaking,”he stated.
He added “I think that there has been a delay and the flagbearer as soon as he can should announce [his] running mate as soon he can because he need a running mate to support him.”
