The MTN Ghana Foundation has commissioned a newly built 600-bed capacity girls dormitory for the Tamale Senior School (Tamasco) on Saturday, 26th June, 2021.
The facility is fully furnished with beds and a Housemistress Bangalore to ease the accommodation deficit at the school.
Vice President Dr Mhamadu Bawumia who is an old student commissioned the facility as part of activities to commemorate its 70th Anniversary Celebration.
Tamasco was founded in 1951 by the then British Colonial Authorities as the first second cycle institution in the Northern Territories.
According to the Foundation, the project falls in line with its focus area and the SDG 3 of supporting infrastructural development to promote effective teaching and learning.
“This project also aligns with national priority to improve educational infrastructure at the SHS level especially because of the Free SHS policy,” the Foundation said.
It added “The project will provide a safe school environment for students in respect of accommodation and effective learning.”
