Ghana’s largest telecommunications company, MTN Ghana on Tuesday, May 11 donated food items to the Muslim community in Tamale to support their Edul-Fitir celebration on Thursday, May 13, 2021.
Items presented included 10 bags of rice, 10 cartons of vegetable oil, packs of mineral water, packs of soft drinks, a ram and airtime worth GH¢500.
The benevolent gesture is being done simultaneously in the Greater Accra, Ashanti and Western Regions.
The celebration of the sacred Islamic festival comes after Muslims across the globe successfully completed the 29/30 days of fasting and prayer in the holy month of Ramadan.
Sales Manager for MTN in charge of the five Northern Regions, Obed Adu-Amaanwah bemoaned how Covid-19 has changed the dynamics of Eid traditions and celebrations across the world.
According to him, “Despite all these changes, Eid remains the time of giving thanks for all the blessings in our lives, focusing on the sunnahs we can fulfil and reach out to those facing greater challenges.”
Mr Adu-Amaanawah also admonished Muslim Ummah to continue to observe Covid-19 protocols during the Edus-Fitir celebrations.
On his part, Regional Chief Imam Sheikh Ahmed Abdul Salam after receiving the items thanked and prayed the management and staff of MTN Ghana for their numerous support to the Muslim community in Ghana over the years during Eid celebrations.
