N/R: Minority leader begins “operation repossess” NDC’s lost seats in Gushegu constituency

Minority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale South Constituency, Haruna Iddrisu has begun what the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in northern region describes as “operation repossess” all seats the party lost to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region during the 2016 elections.

He began the campaign in the Gushegu constituency, which is one of the seats the NDC lost.

Originally, the Northern region was known to be NDC’s stronghold, as the party used to win majority of seats whenever elections were held.

But, it can not be said to be so because the abyssimal performance of the party in the last elections, which saw reduction the numbers to nine each (out of a total of 18) following the creation of the new regions.

Sources close to the Tamale south legislator say his visit into the constituency was not announced, and that he wanted to surprise the constituents, which he did.

Some suppporters of the opposition NDC in the constituency who spoke to TamaleOnline News describe the situation as a “triumphant entry” into the area.

The leader visited former constituency chairman, Alhaji Jamoni, elders and youth groups in constituency to interact with them.

He encourage them to get involved in the campaign as the election year begins, assuring them that the party will not forget any contribution in any form made towards its victory after 2020.
