Ghanaians who registered for the NIA Ghana Card will recieve their cards from tomorrow, Monday, 8th to 9th June, 2020 at 5,635 centres across the 16 regions of Ghana.
The exercise resumes after a halt due to restrictions on public gatherings following the outbreak of Coronavirus.
Head of Corporate Affairs at the NIA, ACI Francis Palmdeti said the exercise will enable applicants to register for the compilation of a new voters’ register by the Electoral Commission starting 28th June, 2020.
“This nationwide card issuance blitz will enable 11,062,850 Ghanaians to possess Ghana Cards in good time to be used for vouching for their relatives or other Ghanaians who wish to register during the nationwide Mop-Up registration exercise commencing on 18th June 2020 and ending in mid-September 2020,” Mr. Palmdeti stated.
According to him, the NIA will ensure the availability of PPEs for its field officials for use during the exercise as well as adequate resources to ensure the effective observance of all prescribed health and safety protocols.
However, applicants are expected to adhere to the compulsory wearing of nose mask before they will be attended to at the card collection centres.
Also, applicants must wash their hands before and after the card collection process.
In addition, security personnel will be deployed at each centre to ensure that crowd control measures such as physical distancing and appointment system are strictly observed.
