The Damongo Constituency Chairman for the New Patriotic Party Alhaji Adam Braimah has described Adam Mutawakilu, Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency in the Savannah Region as failure who after several years as the DCE and MP respectively could not provide portable drinking water for his constituents.
Responding to the MP who over the weekend promised the people of the Damongo constituency that the next John Mahama administration will see Damongo and surrounding villages enjoy portable drinking water with the project starting three months after his swearing in.
Alhaji Adam Braimah in a statement said the days of cheap politicking and attempts to take the constituents of Damongo for granted by the MP are over.
He said the MP was the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the West Gonja District with Damongo as it’s capital during the Mills-Mahama administration in the year 2009 to 2013.
He added that during the John Dramani Mahama administration from 2013 to 2017, he was the MP for Damongo, a position he continues to occupy till date and for these years failed woefully to take any step whatsoever to provide water for the good people of Damongo.
Chairman Adams said it is very baffling and an affront on the intelligence of his constituents for the MP to suggest after he failed to act when he had the opportunity for eight(8) solid years that water will be provided within the first three months of an NDC administration.

RE: DAMONGO TO GET WATER WITHIN THE FIRST THREE (3) MONTHS OF AN NDC GOVERNMENT
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Damongo has read with total dismay the assertion by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Damongo, Hon. Adam Mutawakilu (Garlus), that the people of Damongo will have access to portable water within three (3) months of an NDC government.
To begin with, the MP was the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the West Gonja District, with Damongo as it’s capital, during the Mills-Mahama administration, from 2009 to 2013. Further, during the Mahama administration from 2013 to 2017, he was the MP for Damongo, a position he continues to occupy.
For these eight (8) long years of the NDC, at a time Hon. Garlus was, first DCE, and subsequently an MP, he failed woefully to take any step whatsoever to provide water for the good people of Damongo. It is therefore baffling and an affront on the intelligence of his constituents for him to suggest, after failing to act when he had an opportunity for eight(8) solid years, that water will be provided within the first three months of an NDC administration. His claim that water can be provided within three(3) months, in itself, is unfortunate as the MP is well aware that it is not technically and practically possible to start construction of, and finish a water project to a large area such as Damongo and its environs within such period.
For the records, as at today, the Damongo water project has secured cabinet approval, parliamentary approval and has been awarded on contract with construction to begin in the course of this year, 2020. A fact the MP is fully aware of since he was a member of the parliament which approved this transaction.
The Akufo- Addo government began the processes for the Damongo water project, will cut sod for it and, God willing, the good people of Ghana and those of Damongo Constituency will permit him to commission this project.
The days of cheap politicking and attempts to take the constituents of Damongo for granted are over.
