NPP Council of Elders Chairman defeats Former GFA Boss in Council of State Elections

Alhaji Adam Zakaria, the Savannah Regional Chairman of the NPP’s Council of Elders has won the Council of State elections in the Savannah Region.

The former Principal of Bagaba Teacher Training College (BATCO) in Tamale defeated Alhaji MND Kawula, a former President of the Ghana Football Association.

Alhaji Zakaria won the contest with a total of 14 votes.

His contenders, Alhaji Jawula and Mr Mohammed Adams got zero (0) votes at the end of the poll.

The Council of State has a very significant role to play in the governance of the country, as it is enjoined by the 1992 Constitution (Chapter 9, Article 89) to “counsel the President in the performance of his functions”.
