The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced 25th April 2020 for its presidential and parliamentary primaries for the general elections in December 2020.
This was agreed at a National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council (NC) meeting held in Accra, Monday, 21st October, 2019.
The NPP in August 2019 held phase I of the parliamentary elections in ophan constituencies (constituencies without a Member of Parliament) where over 95 candidates where in elected.
Prospective candidates will pay nomination fee of GH¢2000 and GH¢20,000 for filing fees whilst that of the presidential aspirants has been pegged at GH¢20,000 as nomination fee and GH¢200,000 as the filing fee.
The Party in a press statement signed by it’s General Secretary, John Boadi, has advised aspiring candidates to desist from any form of Campaign activities untill nominations are duely opened.
“Ahead of these primaries, the party is cautioning prospective aspirants to DESIST from any forms of campign activities until nominations duly opened. Anyone of these, risk being disqualified.”
However, the party will also hold the parliamentary primaries in the remaining ophan constituencies that were excluded in the nationwide primaries due to some reasons this Saturday, 26th October, 2019.
