‘Runaway’ Tema car snatcher arrested in Tamale

The Tamale Divisional Police Command have arrested an alleged “notorious” armed robber, Alhassan Imrani who has been in the Police wanted list has been arrest with multiple fire arms and ammunitions at Banvim, a suburb of the Tamale Metropolis.

The suspect, 38, is said to have been engaged in a robbery incident at Tema in Greater Accra and made away with a Toyota Highlander at Tema in the Greater Accra region.

He was arrested upon a tip-off Saturday night in his hideout at about 10:00pm.

According to a statement by DSP Mick Omari Boakye, Tamale Divisional Crime Officer, the suspect also had in his possession several fire arms and live ammunitions without lawful authority.

“A search conducted in suspect’s resident at Banvim, Tamale, revealed; 3 Pistols, 4 mobile phones, 1 black HP laptop, 1 AK47 assault rifle bat, 1 G3 empty magazine, 6 registered vehicle number plates, 1 plier, 98- auto45 live Ammunitions, 165 auto389 live Ammunitions, 4 pistol empty cartridges and 1 white Toyota Highlander with registration no. GW 3241-20 were retrieved from his house,” the statement said.

It added “Enquiry extended to a spraying shop where one ash color Toyota
Highlander with it front and rear bumpers removed suspected to have been snatched at gun point in Tema ,were recovered and same is kept for evidential purpose.”

Other items retrieved from the suspect’s house were car number plates and other accessories.

Alhassan Imrani has been reminded into police custody for further investigations.
