President of Ghana, Nana Addo-Dankwah Akufo-Addo has imposed a ban on weddings, musical concerts and parties until further notice.
This comes following an upsurge in the number of Covid-19 cases with a daily infections rate moving from 200 to 700.
Currently, 789 new cases of coronavirus has been confirmed by the Ghana Health Service taking the total number of actives cases to 5,358 in Ghana.
The President in his 23rd nation address on Sunday, 31st January, 2021 said government is left without options but to re-introduce these restrictions to curb the prevalence of the pandemic.
“So, until further notice, funerals, weddings, concerts, theatrical performances, and parties are banned,” President Akufo-Addo stated.
He added “Private burials, with no more than 25 people, can take place, with the enforcement of the social distancing, hygiene and mask-wearing protocols.”
However, beaches, cinemas, theatres and pubs are to remain closed including the country’s borders by land and sea.
