Speaker Bagbin shuts down parliament as Covid-19 cases soar in Parliament

Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has suspended sitting for the next three weeks over covid-19 spread in the legislature.

According to Speaker, 15 MPs and 151 parliamentary staff members tested positive for the dreaded virus.

This prompted the Honourable Speaker to suspend the house to stem the spread of the virus.

Earlier last week, Mr Bagbin urged members of the house who have done the test to go for the mandatory test.

He also threaten to name and shame MPs who tested positive but refused to isolate themselves.

Currently, Ghana has recorded 692 new case of Coronavirus with the death toll raising to 472.

However, the daily infections rate spans between 600 and 700.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s active cases stands at 6,707 with 6, 5149 and 472.
