The Gbewaa Palace has disclosed that all stationed military personnel at the palace on January 16 have been changed, following a police assault on a truck driver inside the palace.
It is not clear whether further sanctions will be meted to them but Palace PRO, Yakubu Musah told Radio Justice’s Tudu Lahabali Kpana on Wednesday that the military high command was quick to act on the orders of Yaa Naa Abukari II who was incensed about last Thursday’s incident.
He said the Yaa Naa’s orders came after CCTV footages disclosed that the soldiers sat unconcerned while the police chased the truck driver into the Palace, arrested and assaulted him in their presence.
Earlier today, the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Obed Akwa led a high powered military delegation to the Gbewaa palace to apologise to the Dagbon King.
Yesterday, the Northern Regional Police Commander who represented the IGP also led a high powered police delegation to apologise to the Yaa Naa and reassure him of the police administration’s resolve to ensure the officers who ‘disrespected’ him will be brought to book.
