The Chief of Tolon, Major Rtd. Abubakari Sulemana says Dagbon is no longer in the dark days and has called on indigenes to rally behind the Overload, Yaa-Naa Abukari Mahama II to make to transform the Kingdom.
The Tolon-Naa who spoke in an interview with Radio Tamale’s Fuseini Safianu at his Palace in Tolon urged the youth to rise above politics and embrace unity, promote peace in the collective interest of Dagbon.
According him, the time has come for the people to do away with “Chieftaincy Politics” indicating that government will always come and go but Dagbon will remain one.
“Dagbang will continue to exist to the end of time. Today where is Nkrumah, Busia and Acheampong? These were all rulers of previous regimes”, Tolon-Naa Sulemana stressed.
He further stated “We are no more in the dark days of Dagbang. Let’s do well to sustain the peace we currently enjoy. Let’s help Yaa-Naa Abukari to succeed.”
The Dagbon Kingdom after the enskinment of a new Yaa-Naa in January 2019 is still faced with chieftaincy crises in Nanton and Kpatinga.
However, Yaa-Naa Abukari has set up a committee of eminent Chiefs who are liaising with the Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to resolve the matter.
