An Accra Circuit Court judge has remanded a so-called man of God who has threatened the president and the Electoral Commission boss, Jean Mensa.
Emmanuel Essandoh while remanding Kwabena Owusu Adjei advised the general public to be mindful of their utterances as it may land them in jail.
In a vile, unrestrained tirade, the 56-year old said the president, Nana Akufo-Addo, “would not finish his four-year term.”
He said the president would suffer a similar fate of his father, Edward Akufo-Addo who was overthrown as president of the second republic in 1972.
In a viral video loaded with invectives, Kwabena Owusu Adjei said “there is no way he can on to this power. God is my witness, hallelujah.”
His angry commentary was interjected with an occasional halleluyah and a spare audience responding ‘amen’.
It got even worse when he came to speak about the EC chair Jean Mensa.
Standing up and beating his chest, the 56-year old screamed insults and also dared the EC boss.
“If Jean Mensa thinks she was not born of a woman and come from some other angle and do another register…she should go ahead and do the new register” he fumed and threatened her with death.
But looking sober in the dock, Kwabena Owusu Adjei pleaded not guilty to the charges.
He has been charged on three counts–threatening a public official, offensive conduct and having in his possession, illegal drug.
Before remanding him, the judge had some words of advice.
“Talk is cheap but even as a child we are told not to speak against our elders or say things that will put us in trouble”.
“Although we have free speech, we should always be guided by what we say. All of us here must take note,” the judge, Emmanuel Essandoh, spoke in Twi.
The case has therefore been adjourned to June 23, 2020.
He was arrested on Tuesday at his premises at Greda Estates on the Spintex road in Accra about 7am. The joint force made up of the CID and National Security set off at 2am to the Kwabena Adjei’s residence.
He was speaking to a small group of journalist from Hot FM when he was arrested. The police say they also found weed on him.
