“Tamale interchange needless, the people don’t need it” – Says NDC’s Hannah Bissiw

Hannah Louisa Bissiw, National Women Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress has observed the people Tamale are not in need of an interchange which is causing serious traffic in the metropolis.

In her view, the former legislator believes the ongoing constructions of the Tamale interchange (under the Synohydro deal) is needless since it is not the primary need of the people.

She stated roads blocks with aluminum zincs in the city center in causing heavy vehicular traffic which inconveniences the people.

Madam Hannah Bissiw was speaking on Radio Tamale Friday, 10th January before the Inter-Party Resistance against the New Voter Register (IPRAN) hit the streets of Tamale on Saturday, 11th January, to protest against the new biometric voters’ register.

According to her, the GHS443 million allocated to the Electoral Commission (EC) to compile a new biometric register could have been used to rehabilitate the deplorable roads in the region.

She said the people of Tamale are in dire need of good drinking water, good schools and better livilihood.

“I don’t even think that we in Tamale will say we need the interchange. we’d say give us good roads, give us good water, give us good schools for our children to attend. Give us good livilihood [because] that’s what we want.”

Hannah Bissiw intimated.
