The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly (TaMA) has constituited a seven member taskforce to amid the Novel Coronavirus pandemic.
The decision to form a taskforce was arrived at an emergency meeting held Wednesday, 18th March, 2020.
The mandate of the taskforce is to ensure strict compliance of government’s directive to suspend public gathering including religious activities for a month.
This forms part of measures to contain and ensure the safety of Ghananians against the Covid-19 virus.
The MCE, Iddrisu Musah Superior indicated he will join the taskforcs from time to time to ensure the public adhere to President Akuffo-Addo’s directive.
He added the Assembly will in the coming days will roll out a sensitization program in collaboration with the media to educate the public on the does and dont’s of the Covid-19 disease.
However, the Assembly has also received some items from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to fight against the Coronavirus disease.
This includes; waste bins, hand washing basins and water containers, cartons of liquid soap a detergents, hand sanitizers etc.
The items will be placed at vantage points within the metropolis for public use.
