Wakaso’s Assist Keeps Depotivo Alavez’s UCL Hopes Alive

Champion League hopes for Coach Abelardo Fernández next season is still alive thanks to a splendid performance by his players today.

Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso came off the bench in the 85th minute to provide an important third goal assist for Deportivo Alavez 3 – 1 win against SD Huesca in Saturday’s Laliga fixture.

The 28-year old soon asfter his introduction extended a fine cross from the left wing to find striker Jonathan Calleri to slot in the third and final goal for the visitors.

However, the “Babazorros” took the lead courtesy a carefully converted penalty by Calleri in the 11th minute but the home side were quick with the equalizer via another penalty in the 14th minute by Eziquel Avila before John Guideti power Alavez back in the lead in the 80th minute of the sechalf.

Today’s win leaves Alavez 5th with 44points behind 4th place Gatefe with 45 points.
