The Youth of Wulensi-Chamba in the Nanumba North and South District of the Northern Region are demanding for the 17.5 km Wulensi-Chamba road to be worked on immediately by the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mohammed Bantima Samba.
A statement signed by the Youth Leader, Alhaji Alhassan Sulemana said the road has not been fixed after the contract was awarded to Mr Samba in 2018 worth over GH¢22 million.
“This road contract was awarded in the early part of 2018 under the contract name B-Mole Enterprise with a contract sum of GhC 22,391,150.00.
“Until the timely revelations by Kelvin Taylor in the controversial procurement authority scandal, Chairman Samba and his cohort attempted to sale the project to a different contractor,” Alhaji Sulemana alleged.
According to him, the chances of the NPP in the Wulensi Constituency in the forthcoming elections depends on the construction of the road.
Alhaji Sulemana added the people of the area will punish the ruling government due to Chairman Samba’s “wickedness” as the deplorable road continue to claim many lives.
“Again, let it be on records that, Chairman Samba will be solely responsible for the failure of NPP in the wulensi constituency if the road is not fixed. If Samba thinks he can create problems in the area and pretending to solve it, he should better go fix the road first,” he stressed.
They have therefore placed a called at the doorstep of President Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Defense Minister and MP for Bimbila Dominic Nitiwul and the Northern Regional Minister Salifu Saeed to persuade Chairman Samba to fix the 17.5km road or forget the Wulensi seat.
